Publishing Error message

Ken

When trying to publish my web updates, I get the
following error message after the upload and when
finalizing the publish process.

"The server sent a response which FrontPage could not
parse. If you are trying to connect to a FrontPage
server, check with the server's administrator to make
sure the FrontPage server extensions are installed
properly."

I checked with the server admin and they said everything
was ok on their end.

I use WindowsXP Pro, Office/FP XP, the website is on an
Apache web server at BestHost1.com, and I use MSN dial-up.

Your help and insight will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

That generic error could be from a multitude of causes
Try doing some clean FP up first
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to log on as an admin (other than the NORMAL user name) and look in the super hidden folder
C:\Documents and Settings\NORMALUSERNAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Then open your online site in FP
(File Open Web/Site and enter your URL as http://www.yoursitename.com/ and log in)
Run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks, can close the online site
Open you local site in FP and try to publish again (changed pages only)

I searched for *.web files using Windows Explorer, but
found none. I then did a search including all hidden
files and folders. I found about 5 files files in the
following area c:\documents and settings\ken\application
data\microsoft\web server extensions\cache . However,
I did not delete them. Should I delete them?

I then opened the website and recalculated hyperlinks,
closed the site, and then opened it locally. When I go
to File, Publish web..., and login, there are way too
many question marks. Is there a way to synchronize the
two (online site & local) without having to republish
everything?
