Publishing files or folders with frontpage 2002

I have a message that says:
The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you are
trying to connect to a FrontPage Server, check with the server's
administrator to make sure the FrontPage Server Extensions are installed
properly.

I'm sure it has something to do with my firewall. I recently installed
Norton Internet security on my machine. Before the install of Norton
frontpage worked perfect. Now I get this message.

How do I fix it?
I've turned off all virus protection and tried again. But still get the same
thing.
Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it's the Norton firewall, not anti-virus. You need to review the
documentation provided by Norton to see what configurations you need to use.
It may be denying access to port 80?

I believe I disabled the firewall too and still got the same message. I can't
remember. I'll try again tonight.

You needn't mess with the anti-virus - that probably isn't the problem.

You mentioned your firewall; You may need to put the the Frontpage
application executable file in your "allowed programs that need internet
access" because, of course Frontpage does access the net in order to publish
web sites. Any good firewall would prompt for this when first used such as
"X program is trying to access the internet do you want to allow this?" kind
of thing.

Also put your site URL in your "trusted" zone list in your firewall and in
your browser, then see if you get any response/success in connecting in
frontpage.

I can upload using frontpage as long as there are no files or folders attached.
How can I tell if it's denying access to port 80?

Let me re-phrase. Yes I'm publishing a frontpage web site. I have no problem
publishing if I'm just updating text. But if I add pictures and try to
publish it will not work. Thats when I get the message.

I open frontpage. Then I click file, open, net work places, my web site,
type in username and password. web opens I update and publish. If I update
from work...I have no problems. Just from home do I have this problem. But
only since installing Norton on my system.

This is what Norton support tells me:

Steve, I understand your concern regarding this issue. This issue can be
caused due to the improper configuration of firewall rules in Norton Internet
Security. In order to resolve this issue, I suggest that you please run a
scan for Internet enabled programs. The Program Scan Wizard in Norton
Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall searches your hard drive for
Internet-enabled programs and displays these programs in a list. You can then
select the programs that you want to apply firewall rules to. These firewall
rules configure the firewall to permit or not permit an Internet-enabled
program to access the Internet.

Can this be the problem? I don't have a problem running the program. except
when publishing files. Like I said. If I'm publishing text only frontpage
works fine.
