publishing from server to new computer

Hi guys, it's been a year or more since I've posted. I have a site I
generated on FP98 http://www.cancersurvivors.org. computer crashed, replaced
w/Dell running Windows XP home edition and installed FP2003. Now I want to
publish my site from the web to my new computer and I'll be darned if I can
figure it out. I can make changes to the site using remote server so I know
that part of it works. I'm sure it all works I just need direction....what's
the right way to do this. Open the remote and publish to my computer? Open
FP03 and import? Help seems to imply I can do either and to "follow the
wizard instructions" but I just can't seem to find out where to put the
site....the wizard appears to want to import to FP\mysite\. Is this correct.
I'd sure appreciate any help. TIA

Open FrontPage, open the remote site and select File > Publish site.. and publish it to a location
on your hard drive.

Thanks for the reply Steve. when you say publish it to a location on your
hard drive, should I just let it put the site wherever? Sorry for this very
basic question but I drive my computer like my car....turn it on and go,
don't know what's under the hood....will FP be able to find the file on my HD
wherever it is or do I have to stipulate that I want it in a certain place?
TIA

When I open the site in FP and then ask to publish the site it asks me where
to publish it.....the address box is where one puts the http://www address
but I don't know what to put for my computer. Sorry I can't be more
articulate about this, but I'm just bumbling. TIA

So, I figured it out. I am so literate that I had problems envisioning the
local/remote site reveral in the instructions. But, once I figured that out
it worked like a dream. Thanks for letting me work it through here.

Well, I won't forget that, that's for sure. Now, however, I've lost all my
navigation links. I'm off to Borders to get a "Mastering FP2003" book if it
exists. Arrrgggghhhhh! I'll get it figured out, but I'll get tight shoulders
and a queasy gut before I do.......all I want to do is get the info out
there.....I don't wanna be a tech. Oh well, such is life.

thanks for the book reference. I'm on my way to get it. I did something
really stupid. Published the site from the web to my local HD, made a couple
of small changes and then published it back to the web to make sure it worked
that way as well. During that process is when I lost the navigation and some
of the pages. Now I'll have to either recreate or have my web server
reinstate the last saved copy he has. What a bother.....

Choose a location e.g. in C:\My documents\my webs or wherever you choose.
