publishing my website in front page 2003

Dave

I just installed the upgrade version of 2003. I was already using 2002 and
have published my site to my server many times without any issues. When I
tried to publish my site for the 1st time using 2003, I am getting a message
that there are fiels in my site that have a "conflict" and it asks if I want
to ignor and continue up loading or to over write them. The message continues
to explain that if I over write them I will lose them. Has anyone heard of
this? What do I do? 2nd problem, when I do publish my site, I was chossing to
ignor so those files would not be lost. Once complete, it say I sucessfuly
published my site and when I go to view it on the web, the update I have made
do not appear. Is it becasue I need to re-design my site in 2003 and by using
the site that was created in 2002 is causing problems?

Hi, Dave~

I've seen it, and it has nothing to do with the creation in 2002 and the
re-design/updates in 2003. I'm not sure why it happens, but I would
recommend you "Synchronize" between the hard drive and the server - that
should clear it up.

Hi Teri,

Thank you for the response. I am faily new to webdesign. How do I
synchorize" between my hard drive and server? I called my hosting company and
they had me un-install the front page extensions and told me to re-istall
them and try to re-publish to see if that helps. If not, they told me it must
be a setting or something with front page 2003, becaue I never had this issue
with 2002.

In your publishing window, lower right, there is an area to select:
Remote to Local
Local to Remote
Synchronize

The Synchronize will match the files using the latest file version of each
page in the web.

If your hosting service "uninstalls and then reinstalls" your extensions,
rather than simply recalculating hyperlinks, then you'll lose your navigation
altogether and the web will be a mess until re-published - certainly not MY
first choice!

Whenever you upgrade your software, you should do a full publish of all
pages, not just changed pages only.

Then, after that, you can use changed pages only.

I tried re-puiblishing the enitre site, not just the changed pages and it
seems to be fine now. All the chage did publish. Maybe I jsut had to perform
a full site publish with the 2003 version.
