publishing problem

R

Rik

After a long absence from my webside -shcn.qc.ca- i tried to do some
updating.
Could not log-in anymore.
Using FP98 with MPWS4 on windows Me.
Usually i am asked for Rootweb authorisation wich I never used before.

Cannot open my life-webside in frontpage.
Strange thing happened ,if I try to open My web with my domain name or I.P.
address, it opens my Rootweb.Webshare/www root.
There is no file of my web present wich is in /localhost/shcn.

How did my rootweb get this IP addres ordomain name and could this be the
reason I cannot publish to it anymore.
Can this be deleted ?

Hoping for some light to get around this problem.

Rik.

Try opening your online web in FP using
http://www.shcn.qc.ca/

WindowsMe never officially supported PWS (but there were some work arounds that got it running on some systems)
- so you may not be able to open a local server based web or subweb (on your PC) under PWS using http://localhost/shcn
- is PWS running?
- If not, you may be limited to disc based webs (C:\MyWeb or C:\wwwSHCN)
Open you online web in FP and publish it to a local existing folder

IMHO
Time to upgrade both WinMe (to Win XpPro which support IIS and the FP SE locally) and FP 98 to at least FP2002, preferably FP2003

Thanks for the reply Stefan,

So far I have ad no problem with WinMe and FP.At the moment your suggestion
is considered
but a lttle havy on the budget.

PWS is running.I tried again without succes.
Start server http://hghesqui
Open FP and open web- http://hghesqui/shcn.
Publish FP.
More webs.... type in my webs name http://shcn.qc.ca.
Pop-up dialog box requesting authorisation for rootweb.
As usual unsuccesfull.
I can still access the control pannel on the hosts server and it looks that
at least i got that far.
It looks that at some point I had the correct anwser-http code 200
Some error message telling If authoring against a webserver, please
