Hi,
I have one schedule that each time I publish it I publish it twice because
on each publish I publish different tasks with different publish fields.
The Problem starts when I do the Import. when importing the first exported
tasks then after the Import Project Server publish again the schedule. then
when trying to Import the second exported tasks, at the end of the Import we
can find some values in Actual Effort column that no one posted.

Do yuo know why its happening? And how to prevent such behaviour?

I read your post three times and can't make any sense of it. How about
restating your problem making sure that you're using correct and exact terms
used in Project Server and describe the exact actions you're taking. Be sure
to mention the version of the software you're using.

Thanks,
I'm using Project Server 2003.
I have two masters files that holds the same scheudle.
my publish and Import process is -
1. Open the first master (the First master publish EnterpriseFlag1 field also)
2. filter the master's tasks to present only milestones
3. Select the Active tasks (by selecting the page)
4. go to collaborate --> republish
5. Close the first Master and open the second master
6. Second master publishes the Actual Start field also to the regular
published fields
7. Filter tasks that are not milestones
8. Select the Active tasks (by selecting the page)
9. go to collaborate --> republish
10. users posting using Project Web Access 2003
11. I'm accepting the tasks that were updated under the first master and
clicking update (following Project process untill all tasks are updated)
12. I'm accepting the tasks that were updated under the second master and
clicking update
13. I'm opening MSP Client and checking the imported values from Web Access.
for tasks that the user updated only remaining Work, I still can see values
in Actual Work (the values in Actual Work is what the user reduce from the
remaining Work field in Web Access).

I'm wondering why I have values in Actual Work although the user didn't
updated them.
My assumption is that after the first Tasks update (with the first Master),
MSP Publish the file's tasks again and it causes conflicts when I'm trying to
Update these tasks (with the second file)

any suggestions?

Thanks

I can't imagine why you've constructed such a complicated and difficult
scheme to handle your projects. My first suggestion would be not to do
things this way, unless there's a really good reason. Why are you using
republish? Are you selecting to overwrite data in PWA? If so why?

As for your actual work, it sounds as though you're using the percent
complete and remaining work tracking method. In which case the system is
behaving as designed. When a user updates only remaining work, the systems
assumes that happened because someone did some work. How else does remaining
work get reduced in the real world?

I really appreciate your answer,
Still some clarifications,
Regarding the posting method I'm using – “Hours of work done per day or per
weekâ€
Regarding the Publish – I’m publishing twice since I want the users to have
different publish fields for different tasks. (For example for milestones I
want the user to update Enterprise Finish 1 while for Effort tasks
Would like to users to update Actual Start)

I do remember tracking some projects in which the users posted only
Remaining and the Actual Work values stayed empty (without Project pushes
values in Actual Work).
So I wonder what changed now. Is it the double posting?
Does “Project†always insert the “complete values†into the Actual Work when
the user posting only Remaining work, or is there a special case when this
scenario happens?

Many thanks again for baring with me.
