Publishing to Server Changes Assigned Calendar

G

GHF

We have developed a 6.5 hour per day calendar on which to plan - with the
holidays that affect it. This calendar is located in the plan prior to
being published to the server.

When we publish this plan to the 2003 server, some resouces - but not all -
have their calendars changed to another calendar with a slightly different
name. This calendar is an 8 hour day one, and the holiday input is not far
enough out to give us the warm and fuzzies, and we have no idea who/how can
keep the holidays far enought out to avoid working have deliverables due on
Christmas, so to speak.

People with server access - like me - can not correct the server calendar
"modification", and the plan owner can not change it either.

I am concerned not only because of the immediate impact of the number of
hours per day (6.5 vs 8.0), but also the impact on holidays in the out
period, and the ability to enter vacation/non-availability for resources.

Any ideas?

Enterprise resources must use Enterprise calendars. Therefore, any
enterprise resource you use in a project that you create outside the server
will be reassigned an enterprise calendar when you bring the project into
Project Server. You should create a base calendar in Project Server rather
than creating one in an individual project. Then apply the base calendar to
the resources in the resource pool.

If this does not help, explain what you want to accomplish.

Gary -

Thanks for the explaination. It makes sense.

Next question - what kind of access is needed to:

1. Build an enterprise calendar
2. Assign a resource to that calendar
3. Change - if such a thing exists - the default enterprise calendar for a
resource.
4. Manage vacations and work/non-work calendar adjustments for a given
resource.

I have admin rights to the server, but....

By default:

Administrators can create calendars
Resource Managers and Administrators can edit resource information.

You can modify the group and category permissions to change this.
