Publishing using ADSL/modem

Martin

Is there any difference between using an ADSL connection
and a modem connection when publishing from FP2003.
I ask because the only way we are able to publish is via
modem - whenever we use our ADSL connection we get the
message 'The server "" timed out' in the middle of data
transfer ie. little green lights are both on, no
simultaneous browsing taking place etc. etc.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Hi

I have had this problem trying to publish using NTL cable to Fasthosts and
got no help at all from either companies, I reckon the ISP's prefer you dial
in using a std phone line on a particular number because they earn money
from it:) but I did find that once I had published using a modem first any
subsequent modifications could be done over cable??..could be a permissions
thing???

hope you get sorted

FrontPage uses the Internet Explorer settings as far as internet connections
are concerned.

Check with your ADSL provider, and se if they block outbound port 80??
Some do to prevent people from running servers on home computers.
