Publishing webpages: name & password

When I publish my webpages, FP2003 has my PC-name/PC-username as default
'name' in the login screen, rather than my ISP username. What do I have to do
to get the latter as my default login name? (XPprof-SP2, stand-alone)

if you log into your web once with your "real" user name and password with
the "remember user name and password" button checked it should stop doing
this.

It doesn't hold. After restarting of FP, name in login window has reverted to
PC-username.
Btw, are we talking about the same login window, since the FP window does
not show a 'remember user name and password' button.

In my experience with FP97, FP98 & now FP2000 the dialogue to which you
refer will almost invariably show your user name for the Windows
operating system you are using. It is the default & I am not aware that
it can be changed in the versions of FP that I have used.

The only way round it that I can suggest is to change the user name of
your system to that of your ISP. In Windows XP Home this can be done in
Control Panel | User Accounts

I think you are correct. Strange, though, that MS has nothing to say about
this glitch.

It all depends on what you mean by a `glitch' I would call it an
omission by MS not to provide the facility to save the user name &
password. MS would probably blame the developers of FP from whom it was
bought!
