Pulling data from 2007

At our company we have many custom apps that pull data from .MPP files and/or
Project Server (2003). As we transition to 2007 we've noticed the OLE DB and
"save as database" in 2007 are removed. What's the fastest way to get data
out of Project 2007 (mpp or server) and into an Access database or Excel
file?

To Save to Access in MPP 2007, you have to go to Visual Reports, then click
on Save Data (at the bottom) and then Save as Database. Similarly, you can
use Visual Reports to spit data into Excel - or simply save the project as
Excel, and kick off the Export Wizard.

For Project Server, you may consider connecting Excel directly to the OLAP
cube or Reporting Database. Christophe Fiessinger blogged about that a while
back.

If you need data from many projects in the same database you need some
custom code. I've been down that track so email me if you need a shortcut or
two.

Seems like I hit "Post" too soon. P2007 allows saving data to Excel format
and to databases. If File/Save As does not provide you with the desired
results, try
Report/Visual Reports/Save Data (lower left) and then Database. Access is a
choice.

You can do some additional field mapping etc if you play around.
