pulling data from an .rtf file

Is there a way to pull data from a .rtf (rich text format) file into
excel?

For example, in an .rtf file:

Beverage $134.54
Sales Tax $10.82
Gratuity $26

I would like to retrieve the $ amounts from the .rtf file and place
the data into a pre-formated excel spreadsheet.

There has to be better way than copy and pasting it into excel...

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
