purchased language pack, still cannot spell check

Hi!

Any help on this would be appreciated:

I purchased a Language Pack (German) for Windows Vista from Microsoft Online.
I downloaded it, followed the activation instructions, and that was it.
No instructions regarding insallation, etc. followed, thus I was assuming
everything was done and restarted my machine.

However, I still cannot spell check using a German spell check file in any
MS Office application.

I am a newbie to Vista, but am very familiar with previous Windows and
Office versions. Can somebody explain to me where to enable the language pack
and spell check.

I want to point out that I only want to spell check in that language
occasionally, not set my default language o German.

Thanks!

You would have needed to purchase the Proofing Tools for Office to be able to spell check in the Office environment.

The language pack that you purchased was not for Office but rather for the OS(Operating System). These packs are 2 different programs for 2 different usages.

Peter,

Thanks for your relply!
Tha's really a bummer, though, because I purchased it through a direct link
in the Office Helpfile after entering "foreign language spell check."
Microsoft should do something there!

Anyways, does anyone know where I can purchase the proofing tool online? The
helpfile is of not help...

Thanks again,

Thanks, Patrick.

However, that is exactly what I did, I think. (the file I purchased is
called X12-37276.exe).

It says that the single language packs for office 2007 contain the proofing
tools.
When I try to spell check something in word that I formatted in German (the
language pack I bouht), it still wo't spell check it, though.

Any help (even if you think it's obvious) is appreciated.

THANKS!

Sorry, I was trying to do too many things at once... thanks for your
persistence to help me figure this out.

No, unfortunately I do not have the check mark and A="ABC" next to German in
the language options. This was my first approach as well when trying to proof
in another language.

I verified again, and the software I downloaded is definitely the Office
Language Pack.

However, I am now thinking that maybe something went wrong with the
installation: The language pack doesn't show up as an installed program or
update in Control Panel's "Programs..." feature. Should it?

After I ran the exe file that I purchased in the download, I entered the
activation code and that was it. The only feedback was something like
"language pack installed". I did not get any error messages.

Do you think I should try to reinstall it? Or is there a better way to
figure out whether it installed properly?

Thanks again,
