purchasing product key

I live in the U.K. My preinstalled trial, on my new Dell laptop, has ended. I
followed the links to purchase the product key to Microsoft Office for £98 -
however if i go to the official UK site for Microsoft the download (or the
disk) only costs £78.

Can I buy the disk - without uninstalling the trial - and enter the
accompanying product key or would that cause me problems. Another option
would be to uninstall first and then download but I am worried the the
download may be unsuccessful.

Any advice would be great

Don't bother with a download.

and get the Office Professional WITH DVD for £79.
You WILL need to uninstall the trial version along with any activation
software before you install your purchased version.
