Purging Messages from IMAP Mail Server

Recently when I delete a message from my IMAP mail server in Outlook 2007 I
do not get a Strike through text in the Inbox it just disappears. However,
when I send/receive the message comes back. Since I do not get the strike
through text I cannot purge the items from my inbox. Is there a setting I can
change to delete the message for good?

And you're not using the "Hide Messages Marked for Deletion" view?
