Purple Dots

I had my original question regarding what the purple dots were under
addresses answered earlier today. The project I was working on involved
sending a word document via email (not as an attachment). Even though I
turned off smart tags on my document the email I sent still had the purple
dots when the receiver viewed it. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Have the receiver turn off smart tags, would be my first suggestion.
Or, you may have to Remove Smart Tags from your document before you send it.
You can do this second option after you have accessed Tools | AutoCorrect
Options and clicked onto the Smart Tags Tab. Just because you aren't showing
them, doesn't mean they aren't there. If the the other person is showing
them, they might pop back up (as you discovered).

I'm guessing you just suppressed display of the smart tags and didn't
actually remove them from the document. Or it may be that the recipient's
computer is reinstating them because the recipient doesn't have this option
turned off.
