Putting a number from a previous record on a form.

I have a form which contains a field called order number. When creating a new
record I would like the form to display the order number of the previous
record.
For example if I created order number 27345 and then want to create a new
order I would like the form to display " Previous order number: 27345" So
that I know what order number should come next.

I cannot use an auto number as we use a number which is constanly changing
based on the date.

Any suggestions?
