Why is it that I can put some songs on my slides while other songs wont

Not all sound files are created equal. I once saw a variable bitrate MP3
that wouldn't work in PPT, but other MP3 files did -- they weren't variable
bitrate, though. You wouldn't know that from just looking at the MP3 file
extension, though.
So, what version of PPT are you using? What files are you having problems
with? What's different about the files that work and the files that don't --
did they come from different places? Were they saved with different
settings? What does "won't work at all" mean, exactly -- do the files just
not play, or do you get an error message when you try to insert them?
Oh, don't forget there's also a path limit to what PPT (well, the MCI Media
Player) can play. So put your presentation file and sound files in a folder
called C:\test, and see if they play then. If they do, then the problem is
that your path length is too long.
