putting office on a new computer

We've had a computer with Office 2000 on it-have the
discs which came with the computer when we purchased it
originally.
Now we have a new computer and didn't purchase Office
since we already have it. I've tried to install it to
the new computer and of course it's asking me for the 25
digit code which has disappeared. Is there a way I can
find this code. We're not trying to put in an illegal
copy-it's the one we own, I just no longer have the paper
cover the disc came in-silly me I put those discs into
jewel cases to store them.

If your copy of Office 2000 came preinstalled on your old computer by
the computer's manufacturer, then that copy of Office 2000 is OEM
software (as opposed to retail software) that cannot be legally
installed on any other computer.
