In the Settings and Defaults page for setting up timesheets in your
organization, select the Hours option if you want team members to see
scheduled Work and enter Actual Work in hours. Select in the Days option if
you want users to see scheduled Work and enter actual Work in days.
If a user enters Actual Work in days then the system uses the Number of
Hours in a Standard Timesheet Day value to convert the Actual Work to hours,
which it then stores in the Project Server database. So, if a user enters 1d
in the timesheet grid, the system converts this to whatever number you
specify in the Number of Hours in a Standard Timesheet Day field, which is
normally 8 hours.
If a user enters Actual Work in Weeks for some reason, then the system uses
the Number of Hours in a Standard Timesheet Week to convert the Actual Work
to hours, which it then stores in the Project Server database. So, So, if a
user enters 1w in the timesheet grid (assuming your organization has set up
timesheets to show a week at a time instead of days), the system converts
this to whatever number you specify in the Number of Hours in a Standard
Timesheet Week field, which is normally 40 hours.
Hope this helps.
