PWA Loging

Anyone know or see a fix for this?:

Project Server/PWA 2003 version
Client O/S is Windows XP

User running Windows XP has been logging in to PWA for months ok. Then all
of a sudden the PWA login keeps asking for username and password on each
page. The only fix in the past for this was to blow away and recreate the
profile, so I suspect it is tied to either a cached password, which was not
changed here, and I removed all cached passwords from the users applet in
the control panel. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this
problem and found a solution other than blowing the profile away?

thanks

The only reason for "blowing away" a profile is if the profile becomes
corrupted. Recreating, the profile is the only way I know of to correct a
corrupted profile. You could, of course, simply give the user a new
machine.<g>

the profile is NOT corrupted as far as every other aspect goes. All
applications, both client/server and web based works. Only PWA has an issue
requesting logon credentials on every screen. So do you have any suggestions
for me please?

What I'm trying to convey to you is that this isn't a Project Web Access
issue. My best suggestion is to figure out why you're profile(s) are getting
corrupted. Do you have the latest MDAC components installed on the system?
Is the browser versions correct? Does the user have other unauthorized
software running that may cause a conflict? Is this a result of
peculiarities with the hardware or OS version? You're looking for a silver
bullet answer, but there isn't one. If you're serious about getting to
bottom of the cause, you might try working with some of the MVPs in the
various Windows OS groups as well.

Hello Gary

I have encountered a problem very similar to this for the first time today.

We have MS PRoject Server 2003 running on a Win 2003 server with Sharepoint
Services 2.0 and MS SQL 2000. We are a small company and I am the only
person who uses Project Server.

After using both the WAC and MS Project Pro several times today, my computer
lost it's information about the location of Prj Server, returning the error,
Page Cannot be Found in the browser and Unable To Connect Server in MS Prj
Pro. When I substitute the IP addr for the domain name, I can log in but
get the same situation described below, a login prompt at what seems like
every packet for every screen. Is the referenced Profile discussed in this
thread the Profile stored on the network active directory server or is it
the profile on the client C: drive?

To answer your other questions below:
Yes to latest MDAC
Browser is latest IE
Client Software configuration has been stable for months with no new
additions
Hardward configuration has been stable for months.

By the way, I bought your MSP Server 2002 book and thought it was great.
Are you working on one for 2003?

Many thanks

Hello Gary
This is very interesting. After I finished writing the post to you and
rading some of the other posts, I tried it one more time for grins and
giggles and the darn thing worked! It works in MS Prj Pro as well!

We are a small company and no one was working on the network during this
'outage' cause I asked the only three people who might have been doing
something with it.

Seems strange. Any ideas?

Many thanks
