PWA stalls

Hi,

Two users are unable to open PWA. The page at the bottom says "Website
found. Waiting for reply." And the page itself never loads, it just
stalls.
The users donot have any toolbar or popup blockers. When the user tries
to install or update to mdac 2.8 while installing an error occurs
saying incorrect version of windows is present. And these users have
windows xp.

Please help!
Thanks
Sadia.

I have seen an issue where only a certain group of users will have
issues accessing PWA. This has been caused by corruption in their user
profile. Re-creating the profile could fix your problem.

1) Save a backup of the profile
2) Delete the profile
3) Re-create the profile

Test to see if this fixes your issue. You can then re-apply any
settings from the backed up profile to the new profile.

Hi there,
I donot think it should be an issue with their profiles because I am
able to login successfully with their windows credentials from another
machine. Its just something on their machine thats stopping the pages
from loading. And they have not accessed PWA before this.
Thanks

Sadia:

A corrupt profile would be machine-specific, so don't rule out that
possibility until you've tested it. It could also be that the user has
installed an browser add-in or turned on the discussions bar in Internet
Explorer.

Sadia,

Gary is correct, a corrupted profile would be machine specific and the
fact that you were able to log in with their credentials on another
machine is just more evidence that a corrupted profile could be the
issue. By logging in to another machine for with that users
credentials for the first time, you are creating a clean profile which
would fix the problem if a corrupted profile was the issue.

Another test would be to log on with your credentials onto the original
machine with the problem. This will create a brand new clean profile
assuming you have never logged onto that machine with your credentials
before. If you are then able to access PWA then I would say that is
most likely the problem. If that is the case then follow the steps I
have outlined in my last response and it should fix the issue.

So does that mean that re-creating the profile worked for you? I hope so.

I logged onto the problem machine with a profile which has never logged
on it before. That worked fine. Then I deleted the problem profile and
created it again. Now shes able to access fine on any machine.
Thanks for your help.
Sadia.
