Whether tis nobeler in my app to endure the slings and arrows of your DLL version,
or use your OCX Control, thus

Which one should I use in my app and why are there two

The RTF2 control is the only solution that works well in both Forms and
Reports especially if autosizing is required. Yes it is a pain to
distribute but there are no licensing hassles for you or your end users
as there are with all other RTF controls.

I wrote the earlier version just to become familiar with the RTF control
and see if I could get it to work on Access Forms and Reports without
having to use an ActiveX control. While I did and the solution works it
is simply not as full featured or flexible as the RTF2 ActiveX control.

Finally, I am not updating the older non ActiveX solution while the RTF2
ActiveX control is regularly updated. I also resond to and fix bugs for
the RTF2 control only.
