I have office 2007 beta 2 and wish to purchase the full version now it is out
of date, but does the beta count as the upgrade version or do i have to buy
the full office 2007 professional?!

Thanks, Ashley

No, the beta does not count as a qualifying product towards upgrade, but
you might already own another Microsoft product that does qualify. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx for upgrade
pricing and qualifying product information, except that Office XP for
Students and Teachers and Office 2003 Students and Teachers Edition are
NOT qualifying products for upgrade to any Office 2007 edition. If you
don't own a qualifying product, then you'll need to purchase a full version.

If what I'm reading in the computer press (Computerworld) is correct,
Office 2007 is a qualifying product for Office 2007. You simply
install it in trial mode (don't enter the product key) and then do an
upgrade with the same disk. This is true for Vista and, if I've read
the articles correctly, also true for Office.

The OP asked whether a beta version of Office 2007 is a qualifying
product for upgrade, and I said it is not. Are you arguing otherwise?
Or what is your point?

No, I'm saying that it appears that you can buy the upgrade edition of
Office 2007 without having any previous version. You can then use the
upgrade edition of Office 2007 as the qualifying product for itself.
This article talks about it a screen or three down.
