Why do Mac templates look so lame? The templates for the windows-based OS look so much more modern.

Beauty is, admittedly, in the eye of the beholder, but what templates are
you referring to?

Those available in the Project Gallery are certainly not anything to be
ashamed of. Also, most of those available for Win Word can be used by Mac
Word as well.
