query wizard

When I create a new database query using the query wizard, sometimes it lets
me edit the query by clicking the edit query button on the external data
toolbar. However, in some queries it automatically opens Microsoft Query
instead. Why is this?

IMHO it's because the query in question exceeds the wizard's
limitations:). Using MS Query you could form queries far more complicated
than using the wizard.
