question about deleting email

Recently, something has changed with my Outlook deleted items folder and only
my "unread emails" are going into it. All read emails seem to be totally
deleted rather than going to deleted items. Would anyone be able to tell me
why? Thanks!

How are you deleting the items? Manual delete? If so, are you hitting
Del or Shift+Del (the latter is a permanent delete and does *not* move
items into the Deleted Items folder)? Is the delete done by a rule? If
so, is it a "delete" or a "permanently delete"? Have you tried
disabling all your rules to see the problematic behavior continues? Did
you check the View on the Deleted Items folder to make sure you are
viewing ALL messages and not just unread ones?

I delete by highlighting the email, right clicking and scrolling to "delete".
"Unread messages" was checked in the view menu. Not sure how it changed from
"messages" but all is well now. Thanks for your help.
