Question about Office XP Student Edition licence

Paul Moore

Hello,

I have a legal copy of Office XP student edition. The licence allows me to
install the software on up to three separate PCs.

Do these PCs have to be in the same physical household, ie, all PCs appear
to have the same IP address when connected through the home LAN to the
Internet via a router, or can they be at separate physical locations? My son
is studying away from home, and he wants to use one of the licences.

Many thanks,
Paul

I was going to comment that you meant Office 2003, but I see you have
corrected yourself. ;o) Yes, that's fine. As long as the people are in the
same immediate family, there is no reason why not. The only problem may come
is if your son wants to update the software (SP1 is the current service
pack) as that requires a physical disc. But, other than that, no there is no
problem. He *is* a student, after all...

I purchased Office XP thru a program at school because I am enrolled in that
course. Then I dropped the course, after it was installed on my pc in summer
of 04. NOw I want to purchase it again that I am re-enrolled in the course.
Each time I purchase it I am required to fill out and sign some form. I dont
know what the bookstore does with that form. As long as the bookstore sells
me another discounted copy of the student version, I should be ok to install
that on another pc and use the software in 2 places correct?
Maybe I can use it on more than 1 pc already now, but I doubt it. The
activation probably only allows 1 install on 1 pc.
