Question about PowerPoint installation

Does anyone know, or is there a more applicable group to ask, if the
AutoCorrect option "Automatic Layout for Inserted Objects" can be
disabled by default upon installation?

Our company is about to upgrade to 2003 and will be installing Office
2003 accross our network. I know there are some controls for setting
defaults and other options upon load, what about this one? Anyone know?

I admit I could ask our tech's directly, but I want an outside opinion
as well.

Thanks.

Interesting stuff. Thanks.

I didn't see it mentioned specifically, but maybe there's still a way.

You should be able to create a custom transform (MST) file to do the
installation. With that, yes, you should be able to turn this off.

Oh wait, you know what? Office 2003 doesn't behave the same way 2002 did.
With 2003, inserting images onto a slide shouldn't make the autolayout kick
in, even if it's not been turned off. Inserting a chart or a table or a
movie or what have you that's not a picture will make the autolayout kick
in, though. Dunno if that makes a difference to you or not, but it might.

Whoa!!! Hello!!! You're on to something there!!

I tested and found 2003 does not retype the graphic object from a 13
(msoPicture) to a 14 (msoPlaceholder) like 2002 did. And it doesn't
change the slide's layout type.

I don't really need to worry about this option after all in our
installation.

You saved the day for me, Echo!! Way to go! Thanks.

Very cool. I was wondering if that "#!%&#! AutoCorrect-Automatic Layout for
Inserted Objects option" (LOL!) might be the reason you were asking about
that! :)
