Question on aligning a cell itself, not the text

Someone said they have seen where the actual cells in a row have been aligned
diagonally, is this possible? if so how do we do that?

This is usually done for headers on narrow columns:

Enter the text then select Format > Cells > Alignment > Orientation > set to
say 60 degrees and Horizontal Text Alignment to Center. Finally put a
border around the cell. Until the border is placed around the cell it will
not be angled.

If you rotate the text and place borders around the cells, the cells look like they have been
rotated - but they haven't actually....

I think you may be referring to this:

put some labels in B1:F1, eg Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc, then
highlight those cells and click on Format | Cells | Alignment tab,
then in the Orientation panel click on the red button to align the
text at 45 degrees. Then click on the Border tab and click on Outline
and Inside.

When you click OK the cells will look as if they are aligned
diagonally.
