Question on baselining

P

Peter Sirmis

Hi,

The project managers in my organization want to keep track of multiple
baselines. How can we track multiple baselines in reports? Would we
have to add a calculated column for baseline to get the Delta between
the baselines?

Microsoft Project offers ten additional Baselines, called Baseline1-10. Your PM's can save a baseline in one of these Baselines by clicking Tools - Tracking - Save Baseline, and then selecting the Baseline from the Baseline pick list at the top of the dialog. Each of these additional ten Baselines has an accompanying set of baseline fields. For example, the Baseline1 baseline includes Baseline1 Start, Baseline1 Finish, Baseline1 Duration, Baseline1 Cost, and Baseline1 Work. To measure the Delta between baselines, you would need to use an appropriate custom field for this purpose, along with the formula to measure the Delta. For example, if you want to measure the Delta between the Baseline Cost and the Baseline1 Cost fields, use a custom Cost field with the formula [Baseline Cost] - [Baseline1 Cost]. Hope this helps.
