Question on establishing ERD relationships

G

GL

I am new to Visio and trying to establish a relationship between two
relational tables in a database design. I am unable to get the connector to
turn red at the connection points and establish the relationship between
the tables. Have been dragging the connector all over the place but the
relationship, as shown in the database properties box, is never
established.
Is there a setting somewhere I should check?

Many thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. I started a diagram, no problem, then
all of a sudden, I'm draggin the line all over the place but none of the
entities turn red. If I find out I'll post it here, until then good luck.

Are you holding down the CTRL key while you drag the end over the entity?

Scot.

I got it. I had to take the connector and literally drag it over one of
the involved entities...not just hover around on the entity perimeter.
Once I did that enough it turned red.

So, am I the only one that has seen a diagram with about 35-40 tables,
100+ relationships, and not able to connect any new relationships?

I finally gave up on that diagram (only 10 tables) and started it again with a different version of Visio at work. Something happens and bam, nothing I could do will make those boxes connect. Someone mentioned holding down the control key, but that did nothing for me. I am running Enterprise Architects version of Visio at home (10.0.2705), at work I'm running 2003. This is by far the worst ER modeling tool on the market, but the only one I can afford. The good ones are 3 - 4 grand.
