Question on modifieing Normal.dot template

Office 2003 Professianal w/Frontpage

I am trying to create a new blank page by creating a new
document, saving it as Normal1.dot. I then close word, and
rename the Normal.dot to normal.org and then rename my
customized page to normal.dot.
The problem I am experiancing, is that I am applying a
theme to the page, once the page is saved and renamed the
theme does not appear.
Now, if i attach a picture to the page, and tell the
picture to stay behind the text, save it and open it as
the default normal.dot, it does save and display all
changes I made to it. Am I missing something???? Any
help would be appreciated

Hi Glenn,

Creating your own Normal.dot leads to missing AutoText and
difficulties with AutoCorrect (among other issues). Then only way to
properly modify Normal.dot is to open it and make your modifications.

That said, I would caution you against making these types of changes
to your Normal.dot. I would suggest you create your own template
instead.

I suspect you are referring to the background when you use the
template? If that is the case then the backgrounds are only visible in
Web Layout view.

If you want a background image then place one in the Header/Footer
layer.
