question on Reading Layout

Hi guys!

When I open a document in Reading Layout, page 1 is on the right side. What
should I do so that page 1 would appear on the left side?

BTW, this might have something to do with the fact that my Office apps were
installed in Israel, and Israelis read from right to left.

Are you sure you're in Reading Layout view? It sounds as if you're seeing a
two-page spread. When I change to this view, I get only one "screen" (they
don't correspond to pages) at a time.

Yes, I'm sure. (View --> Reading Layout)

I think you need to click on the 'Allow Multiple Pages' icon that can be
found in the
Reading Layout toolbar.

Okay, I was trying View | Zoom, but that's disabled. I've looked at several
documents, including those with "Different odd and even" enabled, thinking
perhaps that Reading Layout was emulating Print Preview and showing facing
pages, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. When you see screen 1 on the
right, do you see screen 2 on the left? Could it be that you have some weird
RTL language enabled? If so, you need to get together with the user who's
trying to find "Reverse book fold" for a RTL document. <g>

Yes, when I see screen 1 on the right, screen 2 appears on the left.

The task pane (View | Task Pane) also appears on the right side. This is
also the case for Powerpoint.

In powerpoint, the window that contains the slide thumbnails also appears on
the right side.

Yes, I imagine this is the reason. Try asking in the
word.international.features newsgroup; perhaps someone there can tell you how
to deactive or remove the RTL. Be sure to mention
- version of Word (number as well as language
- Version of Windows (same)
