Questions Moving from PC Excel to Mac Excel 2004

Hello gang -

My apology for a second post. I hadn't realized the action was over
here until after I had posted to excel.mac

I'm trying to move some files from a PC environment to a Mac (XL 2004)
and there are some differences that are frustrating me.

1. Where is the control that allows setting macro security to low? The
only macros I run are trusted, but I still keeping getting the alert.
It's on the Macro sub-menu on the PC.

2. If the VBA code is password protected, how do I get to the
properties in the VBE to provide the password (that's how it works on
the PC). On the Mac, properties is grey, and I just get told "no can
do".

3. I've gotten Chip Pearson's Cell View to work on my Mac. I had to
remove the password he provides on the PC and then copy it over. How do
I get Steve Bullen's VBE Smart Indenter to work?

Daniel Klann's favourites.xla runs, but with an error. I think I can
fix it-has to do with menu differences.

I found out yesterday after my other post that Mac XL checks the Addin's
folder only on startup. XL found my addin's on a second start.

Thanks for any insights.

....Best, Capt. N.

1. Where is the control that allows setting macro security to low? The

It's on the Macro sub-menu on the PC.

Excel menu > Preferences > Security > Macro Security
2. If the VBA code is password protected, how do I get to the
properties in the VBE to provide the password (that's how it works on
the PC). On the Mac, properties is grey, and I just get told "no can
do".

Tools > Macro > Visual basic editor
In the Projects window click the triangle that represents the vbaProject
for the workbook you want to edit. The password dialog box will appear.

Another way: In the Projects window highlight the vbaProject name you
wish to edit. Use Tools > VBAProject Properties. The password dialog box
will appear.
3. I've gotten Chip Pearson's Cell View to work on my Mac. I had to
remove the password he provides on the PC and then copy it over. How do
I get Steve Bullen's VBE Smart Indenter to work?

The description given for it says it integrates with Visual Basic 6 IDE.
The Mac version of VBA is 5 in Office 2004. Microsoft has not indicated
what version of VBA will be in the next version of Mac Office - only
that it will return.
Daniel Klann's favourites.xla runs, but with an error. I think I can

I found out yesterday after my other post that Mac XL checks the Addin's

You can use VBA to check for the presence of an add-in.
Thanks for any insights.

Hi Jim -

Thank you. That VB5 or VB6 thing will probably break something else.
Is there a site you would recommend to review the differences and work
arounds?

I knew there had to be those controls somewhere.

I'll be hanging out here regularly.

Hi,

The best archive that I know of is to search this newsgroup using Google
Groups.

Also, if you come across specific code that won't work, describe what
you are trying to do and post the code that doesn't work. It's possible
someone might come up with a good work-around for you.
