Questions regarding ue of Office Clipboard

Here's what I need to do: while developing /editing a PPT pres., at various
places I'd like to insert a stock slide.

I know that I can use CTRL-C and CTRL-V, but I may have cut/pasted other
stuff in between, and hence the slide I want won't be in the Windows
clipboard.

I was poking around and found something called the Office Clipboard (OC) and
thought that this would be a perfect application for it, but either it's not,
or it is, but I can't figure out how to force the dang thing to my will. I
can get an image of the slide into the OC, but when I paste it, it's pasted
into the current slide, and I want it pasted *as* a slide.

And while I'm on it, CRTRL-C pressed twice seems to do nothing (and, yes,
I've enabled the option in the OC Options), as well as I can see no OC icon
on anything remotely resembling a "task bar" (what the heck *is* that, anyway
- all I see are toolbars. I think.)

This is not a major problem nor an emergency - I was just casting about for
a way to cut down my PPT development time.

Try pasting when you're in the slide thumbnail pane on the left (if you have
that in the version of PPT you're using) or in slide sorter view.

"Paste" from OC is grayed out when in Slide Sorter View. Also, when I have
the thumbnails up, if I put the slide insert blinking bar betweent wo slides,
it still inserts an image of the clipboard image on the slide in the edit
pane.

Does it work for you? If so, I may have some option set wrong someplace or
something...

Well, certainly I can do that. However, from an ease of operation
standpoint, I'd just like to have the slide in questin stored in the/a
clipboard of some sort where I could just insert it from there with a minimum
of keystrokes.

How come I can't see the taskbar icon mentioned in the OC documentation
while in PPT? I can see it in Outlook... Also, how come CTRL-C twice
doesn't bring up the OC pane, like it's supposed to? Any ideas on that?

Hi Steve:

I'm on PPT 2003, and there's no "Clipboard" choice on the View-> Toolbars
display.

It was just a wild thought - that I had stumbled on a really useful,
little-known Office capability. Not to be, I guess.

Forgot to add, that if you right click on your tool bar, select Customize,
Edit, you can drag the Office Clipboard icon to the tool bar if you so
desire

In PowerPoint, right click on your Tool Bar. Select Customize. From the
Popup window select the Commands Tab, then select Edit in the Categories:
window In the right Commands: Window, you should see the Office Clipboard
icon. Click on it and drag it to your tool bar. Hope this helps.

bring up the OC, but having the icon on toolbar is even better - one click.

As I said before, the whole exercise is kind of moot - OC won't support the
kind of copying/pasting I want to do. Sigh.

According to the information at the bottom of the Task Pane the ability to
hit Ctrl+C twice is a valid option. It works for me in all 2003 Office
applications except PowerPoint. Must be a bug that slipped by.

Dave;

If you have something selected in PowerPoint and Hit Ctrl+C twice, it will
bring up the Clipboard taskpane
