quick launch buttons won't stay deleted

I deleted the Office buttons from the quick launch toolbar but every time I
log out or restart they get put back unless I lock the toolbar. If I unlock
the toolbar to change something, the Office buttons get put back. Does anyone
know how to disable this behavior?
