Quick way to shade alternate columns?

Hi

Ive used the conditional format method to colour alternate rows - see
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/banding.htm

Just wondered if this could be modified to achieve the same thing with
columns instead of rows?

Or maybe there's another way?

use a formula like
=MOD(COLUMN()-Cw,N*2)+1<=N
