Quite hard to open Shapesheet for some of myshapes...

thanks in advance,

I have a simple shape with embedded number field on its text field.

After sometime i had not used the file, i cannot anymore select that shape
nor move it elsewhere in my drawing page..visio2003
I tried all sort of Find or Select by type in order to grab the "myshape" as
a selection so i can open its "shapesheet" and probably i may need to unlock
something there somewhere.
Can i open visio protected old files into visio 2003 without any trouble?
Please advise for any add-on or tricks in order that i can access the
"shapesheet" of this very unfamiliar behaviour of "myshape"...in year 2007.

regards,
driller

I think you mean that it is difficult to select the shape so that you
can then open the spreadsheet.
This could be because the shape:
1. has the Selection protection set
when you click on the shape:
menu Format -> Protection
and ensure From Selection is not ticked

2. all the handles have been turned off
menu Format Behavior
and ensure the Selection Highlighting boxes are selected.

thanks Paul,

you're right on bothe comments... do we have any workaround in this one...i
cannot delete it nor replace it with a new one since the embedded field in it
is linked to many other shapes...it's like starting over the big file just
because of one shape?

pls. advice,
regards,

Well, you could try using our
http://www.visio-utilities.sandrila.co.uk/

which has a shape replace function.

You just tell it which properties you wish to copy.
