Quits when checking chart title spelling

Quits when a changing a spelling mistake in the title of a chart (that has data displaying)

When excel/file is reopened, "excel cannot open file. The file might have been damaged or modified from its original format."

Excel 12.1.2(080729)
OS X 12.4.11

Sorry for not replying to this earlier. We are aware of this crash and are
investigating. We have not been able to reproduce the problem of the file no
longer being able to open. Would it be possible to send me a copy of the
file that no longer opens?
