Quotation displays as a capital E

When typing in Work quotations appear as a capital E.

Sorry, question makes no sense as written. More detail might help--like
exactly what version of Word, what exactly do you type, what font, what
type of document, etc?

Also, does cmd-Z immediately after the transformation fix it?
