Here's a GOOD one....
Have a laptop running XP Pro and Office 2003. Recently removed DVD drive
from drive bay to put in an extra battery for long trip. Powered on and went
to fire up Word... Came up and stated that I need to activate again? I went
online to re-activate, and came back and stated that I reached my limit... At
any rate, I pulled out the battery and put the DVD drive back in... Still
wanted me to Activate.. Luckly I had created a restore point earlier in the
day.. Restored to that point and everything worked...
I know that the activation is tied to hardware, but why would a DVD drive be
so important? and what happens if the DVD drive should die?
I want to be able to remove my DVD drive and use extra battery for long trips.
What are my options?
Thanks
