Re-Assign path of linked tables via code

Hello all,
I am using A2002, with some users using access runtime. I have created a FE
and BE database template. I am having the few user's with FULL ACCESS, copy
the FE and BE to their desktop, remap the FE to point to the NEW location of
the BE using link table manager. And then having them create a MDE file.
Is there a way to automate this process with code somewhat simply?

For example, have the link table manager dialog box open, user chooses path
and the system will refresh the BE paths via code for access runtime users?

And can you create a mde file from code?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
