Two of your learned MVP's posted an answer to this problem that I am having
in PP 97.
I followed the advice to run Setup and added the Save to HTML option to my
File options.
I can now save as an HTML page, but there is still no Sound file in the new
Folder, just the photos...
Any ideas please...Dave C

That's fairly odd. How large is the file? If it's under 2MB, you can email
it to me and I'll see if I can figure it out for you. Remove UGHSPAM from my
email address -- (e-mail address removed) . Please don't post it in the
newsgroup.

Echo...Thanks a lot for the help, and for the offer to send it to you. I will
take you up on that as it is under 2mb.
I hate mysteries so I hope you can figure it out...Dave C

Well, as I responded in email, I'm not sure why it's not extracting for you.
The sound was embedded into the first slide transition, but I doubt that
would make a difference.

I'll just repeat here what I said in email in case anyone is following...

Hi, Dave.

I'm not sure why this didn't work in PPT 97. I tried it here with both PPT
2003 and 2000, and both extracted the sound as expected.

When you look in the folder of supporting files that results from the Save
as Webpage, hit the bar at the top labeled "Type," and that will make things
easier to find.

Make sure you have appropriate rights to use it so you're not violating any
copyright/usage rights issues.

I mentioned at the time that I was fairly sure that PowerPoint 97's html export
does not preserve sounds and that you might need to find a friend with PPT 2000
or later.

Ah, that explains it, then. I couldn't see the original thread, so I missed
that part. Thanks for the update and clarification.
Or visit http://get.pptools.com and download the free PPT2HTML demo.
Install it, open your presentation, choose the Basic template and export HTML.
Have a look in the folder you chose to export to; with luck, you'll have
WAVs.

Yes, if Dave needs to do this again, this is the solution he'll need to use,
then.
