Re-install Present Office upgrade on a new laptop

Hubert

Presently I have a Pavilion (Pentium 3) running with XP Home edition. I have
a registered update copy of Office 2003 Profesional with 'Access'
program installed and running on this Pavillion since 2/4/2005. I plan to
uninstall this program and install it on my New Laptop. Can I do this? I
purchased the Office 2003 UPDATE software at Home Depot 2/04/2005 for
$249,and have the discs and package info available to install. Please advise

If you have the qualifying product you used to install the upgrade, then you
should be fine. If you no longer have the QP, then your license is invalid.

What is a QP?
I have all upgrade disc and the ID # from the package in which the upgrade
came in including the Product key #. I do not have the cardboard box. The
upgrade had been installed on my pavilion to upgrade a 2000 Office.( The
Office2000 came with that computer). All works fine but since there will be
no Office on the laptop when I buy it , how can it update ???.

QP = qualifying product. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=832288 "Products that qualify
for the Office 2003 upgrade" for more information. Because
Office 2000 came preinstalled on your old computer, the End User
License Agreement does not allow you to transfer that copy of
Office 2000 to your new computer and use it to upgrade to Office
2003. If you do not have another qualifying product from the
list in the link above, then you will need to purchase a full
version (not an upgrade version) of Office 2003 for your new
computer.

Thanks for the info.
Please re-read the previous thread. Through further rearch I made a mistake:
The Office 2000 copy had ALSO been purchased and had been installed by me as
a stand alone copy on the Pavillion. It did NOT come with the computer. I
have the installation discs of that copy here. As I see it, I have to install
Office 2000 on the laptop and than upgrade from there with the 2003 package.
There is one problem: The plastic folders that came with 2000 are in my
residence in Tucson. Ergo, I do not have the product key available here in my
present Colorado address, but I have the serial number and registration #
from MS.
Another thread: When buying the new laptop, I have the option to buy an
Office 2003 copy (Basic ($90) or Professional($249). The real problem is that
Professional package does not give me <Access> which I have on my update 2003
version. What gives?
Complicated, isnt' it???
Thanks Bert
