Re-installing, re-registering Office XP?

Office XP is installed and registered on a Windows 98 laptop hard drive. I
need to wipe and format the hard drive then install windows 2000 and then
install Office XP.

before I format the hard drive, do I need to uninstall, or unregister,
Office XP so I will be able to re-install and re-register Office XP?

No, you don't. If you have trouble with product activation (which you
shouldn't, because the hardware hasn't changed), then choose the telephone
method of activation and explain the situation to the operator.

Let me ask it this way:

1. What if the microprocessor is changed? (it is an MMC-2 module)
2. What happens if I uninstall office xp, is it un-registered?
3. Is there a FAQ on this somewhere?

It is Office XP Professional Special Edition (2-CD set)
The system board will stay the same.
