Hi folks,
I bought a new machine with Word 2002 (OEM) already installed. I am running
Windows XP home and I installed Office 2000 Premium. As a result I seem to
have lost Word 2002.
I used the disc supplied with the machine to re-install Word 2002.
Everytime I did that I kept getting a message saying the the 'Windows
installer patch package could not be read'. I installed the update package
3.1 from Microsoft's site but that did not help - same message came up. As
a result I am can only get into Word 2000.
Now everytmie I launch Internet Explorer I get Windows Installer dialogue
box coming up (and the DVD drive activating) for a few secondes saying
'preparing to install'.
Can anybody help with:
How can I re-instal Word 2002 over Word 2000 and
How can I stop the annoying Windows Installer box flashing up
Thanks
Chris
