re my previous message formatting cells

Hi
Thanks all for your replies, I am just wondering though if
this will still work with the names not in a column but in
a row? ie row 9 (A-BN) has a first name and surname in
each cell. Does this make sense? Can I still use the
Data>text to column function? My sheet has many formula's
that are attached to the cells above and below each name,
hence my wanting to avoid changing their order if possible
Thanks! (sorry)

Sophie, since the names are in a row, rather than a column, text to columns
won't work. Instead, insert a helper row, either above or below row 9, and
use Domenic's formula (see his post in the original thread) to rearrange the
names. Then you can delete the original row.

BTW, you should continue the original message thread, rather than start a
new one.
