Re-Submit 24 hour calendar

Resource Pool -
I'm trying to create an enterprise equipment resource and assign it to the
24 hour base calendar. However, when I choose the Base calendar in the
Working Time tab, all I see is the Standard calendar. I thought that Project
comes with 3 types
of base calendars: Standard, shift work and 24X7.
I assigned a task to the 24 hour base calendar with no problem, so I'm a
little confuse as to why it doesn't work for a resource.
All the reference material I have and searched for, mention that the
possibility exists, but I can not find how to do it. Hopefully some one could
help.

thx

Paul

Hi Paul,
if you need tasks that run 24x7, you can enter e.g. 5ed in the duration. The
ed means elapsed days. Typical usage: Paint drying needs 2 days - regardless
if there is a weekend.

Maybe this helps you.

Bye,
Reiner

Hi Reiner,

Thx for the tip. The other option would be to assign the task to the 24X7
calendar. This works fine. However, it would be optimal to know how to
activate the 24X7 calendar for resources as well. I would prefer this option
because I will setup an equipment resource in the resource pool and therefore
would like to assign the appropriate calendar.

Cheers

When used in enterprise mode with Project Server, Microsoft Project
Professional does not include the 24 Hours base calendar. Therefore, your
Project Server administrator will need to create this calendar in the
Enterprise Global and then assign this calendar as the Base Calendar for
equipment resources. Here's how:

1. Open the Enterprise Global file for editing
2. Click Tools - Change Working Time
3. Click the New button
4. Name the calendar something like "24x7" and click OK
5. Select the Sunday through Saturday column headers
6. Set the working schedule as follows:

From: 12:00 AM
To: 12:00 AM

7. Click OK
8. Save and close the Enteprise Global file
9. Exit Microsoft Project Professional and then relaunch the software
10. Open the Enterprise Resource Pool and check out equipment resources
11. Set the Base Calendar value to the 24x7 calendar
12. Save and close the Enterprise Resource Pool

Important Note: Do not skip step #9, as you must do this to "refresh" the
cached Global file. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks for your help. There was definitely a disconnect on my part. All the
ref material I have indicate that project comes with 3 base calendars. I
assumed that I needed to activate the calendar some how, not create it. Now I
know. Thanks again!
