ReActivation of Office XP pro.

K

Kyle

I replaced my mother board and processor this week but kept my hard drive, OS,
and all software. The computer came up OK, asking to re activate windows.
I used the over the phone option to activate my windows XP pro. OS and then
found that my Office XP pro. software wanted a reactivation as well.
I followed the instructions and inserted the original install disk, the
wizard looked at
it and seemed to be satisfied and I went on about my work. Unfortunatly each
time
I open a Office XP application the activation wizard returns. It only takes
a minute
to show the wizard my install disk but it is becoming agravating.
I understand that changing the quantity of hardware as I have (my MB has
onboard NIC) makes MS assume that I have shared my 4 year old copy of Office
with the greater half of king county, but this is not the case, I just have
a rebuilt
computer and cannot afford to buy every new version of software that MS
thinks I
need.
(please excuse me if I seem defensive, I read some of the recent posts other
Non-Expert folks sent to you asking for semilar help and I am unsure if I
will get a response or merely a light flame job if I dont supply the required
info).
I have tried using the install disk to perform both a "repair" and a
"reinstall" with
no fix. I hesitate to completely uninstall the app. and then reinstall since
my family computer has 4 profiles on it and a lot of documents require Office
XP. not being especially proficient with the applications I dont know if an
uninstall/reinstall would cause more problems then I already have.
I am more then willing to call microsoft and go through the procedure of
reactivating Office but unlike reactivating Windows XP I dont have the proper
phone numbers or procedures.
can someone help?

I have a similiar problem after installing a new hard drive.

I had to reactivate XP and couldn't do it via the 'net because it kept
insisting I wasn't connected (although I was).

Then I went to run Outlook 2002 and found I need to reactivate that as well.

When I attempted to reactivate, it asked for the original Outlook CD which
came with my Ipaq. I inserted it and it began the "Preparing to Install" and
just sits there, doing nothing (and I've let it run for over 15 minutes). I
tried to reinstall Outlook, but it's telling me it can't find a patch.
