Read only not checked but saves as read only

In some of the answers to some posts that have problems with saving to cd-r
and cd-rw, it is stated that one must uncheck the read only checkbox. What if
the read only check box is already unchecked and it still saves as read only?
If I find the box checked and uncheck it then go back to it, it has
rechecked itself again. Confused?...me too!

Files stored on a CD are ALWAYS read-only.
That's what the ROM in CD-ROM stands for "Read Only Memory".

The directions to uncheck the read only checkbox refer to after you copy the
file back to a hard drive so that you can use the file.
BTW, you should always copy the file back to a hard drive before using the
file vice trying to open the file from the CD-R/RW.
